Rear Admiral's Gambling Corner: Make It A Knights Night And Go Leafs Go
What’s shaking, gang? Loyal backers of the Corner were handsomely rewarded last week as the picks posted here went 5-1. And if Alexander Radulov didn’t have a chintzy late penalty called on him in the Dallas/St. Louis tilt, we might be celebrating a perfect week. Ear-re-guard-less, that’s a nice fucking week and we’re looking to keep on rolling.
Tonight in New Jersey, the Vegas Golden Knights look to extend their winning streak to four over a woeful Devils team that just shitcanned its head coach. Normally, I look for a team to show up with some fire after its coach gets turfed and throw something on them. But not with this team that also just learned that its GM is actively shopping the team’s best player, essentially waving the flag on the season a week after Thanksgiving. Frankly, even if the Devils do show up, it shouldn’t matter to a Vegas team that seems to be have found its legs over the last couple of weeks and is a significantly better squad.
We also have a brother vs. brother storyline as Vegas goalie Malcolm Subban will face his older sibling, Devils defenseman P.K.. Malcolm also will start his fifth straight game and look for his fourth straight win as well (starter Marc-Andre Fleury is away from the team as his father passed away). He’s been playing some of the best hockey of his career lately and I don’t expect New Jersey to alter that.
So we are on Vegas regulation only which is -0.5 and +100 (even money) for 1000 to make 1000 and on the puck line (-1.5 +190) as well for 500 to make 950.
In Philly, Carter Hart will face Freddie Andersen as the Leafs continue their style makeover since GM Kyle Dubas showed Mike Babcock the door. Hart and Freddie have both been playing well as of late. The Leafs are clearly playing with much more spunk post-Babcock and they’ll need it as they face a Flyers team that has lost just one game in regulation so far this season. But the bet here is that the Leafs make it two regulation losses so we’re taking Toronto on the money line (-115) for 575 to make 500 and the puck line (-1.5 +210) for 250 to make 525.
And because I’m feeling a little frisky, I’m gonna throw in a 100 puck line action reverse with the Leafs and Vegas to make 800 (200 is actual risk). That’s both Leafs -1.5 and Vegas -1.5 NOT +1.5.
Good luck to all.
